(Feb. 10, 2018) – The Farmingdale State women's basketball team played host to Skyline opponent Purchase College this afternoon and earned a 71-49 victory. The Rams recorded assists on 25-of-27 made field goals in the win.
After Purchase (9-13, 5-11) opened the game with a 3-pointer, FSC (12-11, 11-5) followed with a 12-0 run which saw a pair of 3s from Liz Durchhalter to go out in front, 12-3, with 4:36 left in the first. Over the final 3:49 of the quarter, the Rams used two baskets by Kaelyn Ward and a Durchhalter 3-pointer to open up a 19-11 advantage after one.
FSC went into the break leading 39-23 as Ward posted 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and had five boards. For the Panthers,
Amber Jones (JR/Bronx, NY) scored 13 points (6-of-10 shooting) and had eight rebounds in the first half.
Alfa DeJesus (SO/Bronx, NY) hit a layup to start the third before back-to-back 3s put FSC ahead by 20 at 45-25.
The Rams led 50-29 with 5:23 remaining in the quarter and used a 9-2 run over the next 4:30 to extend the advantage to 59-31.
The Panthers outscored Farmingdale State 15-12 in the fourth quarter but the Rams earned the home victory on Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Ward finished with a double-double on a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Jones had game-highs in both points (25) and rebounds (13) for Purchase.
