Men's Lacrosse Hosts MSMC

The visiting Knights defeat Purchase in Skyline matchup

Purchase, NY (Mar. 29 2018) – Mount Saint Mary built an 11-2 lead over the first two quarters of Thursday evening's Skyline Conference men's lacrosse game en route to a 19-4 victory.

The Knights improve to 7-4 overall and remain undefeated in the Skyline at 2-0. The Panthers drop to 2-5, 0-2 in defeat.

MSMC opened the scoring just minutes into the first quarter. Tristan Earle netted his 14thh of the season on a pass from Dylan De Meo.

Minutes later, Purchase leveled the score with a goal from rookie Shane Sanders (FR/Merrick, NY), assisted by Brady Fahy (JR/Rochester, NY).

The Mount followed with four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead.

Ben Erkan (FR/Belport, NY) recorded his 12th goal of the season for Purchase in the sixth minute to narrow the Mount's lead to three goals.

The Knights scored four goals in the final five minutes of the first quarter to hold a 9-2 advantage heading into the second stanza.

MSMC tallied another two goals in the next 15 minutes, followed by a 6-0 run to start the third quarter.

Down 17-2, Purchase netted back-to-back goals from Dylan Gethicker (JR/Lime Lake, NY) and James Felix (JR/Scarsdale, NY), respectively.

The Mount closed out the scoring with a pair of goals to secure the 19-4 victory.

Earle led the Knights on the evening with four goals and three assists.

For Purchase, Fahy, Erkan, Felix and Gethicker recorded one goal apiece. Fahy notched the lone assist for the Panthers.

Purchase netminder Matt Sayegh (SO/Hopewell Juntion, NY) made 10 saves in 52:47 of action.

Christopher Doerr recorded the win for MSMC.

Purchase is back in action on Apr. 4. The Panthers head to Boston, MA to take on Emerson College for a non-conference game starting at 6 p.m.
