FSC Improves to 8-0 on Softball Diamond

Completes Sweep of Purchase

Farmingdale, NY (April 15, 2018) – Farmingdale State's perfect run in the Skyline Conference continues.

The Rams are now 8-0 in league play following a doubleheader sweep of Purchase today on the softball diamond.

The hosts recorded 10-2 and 12-3 wins, respectively, to improve to 12-12 overall. The Panthers fell to 5-11 on the spring and 3-7 in conference.

FSC scored two runs in the first inning of game one on an RBI double by first baseman Jessica Lombardo and a sacrifice fly by third baseman Sierra Cardenales.

After scoring a pair of runs on a wild pitch and a groundout in the bottom of the second, Lombardo hit an RBI triple and Cardenales followed with an RBI single to give the Rams a 6-0 lead at the end of two innings.

Lombardo led the way for the Rams with three hits, three RBI's and three runs scored.

Purchase shortstop Victoria Capone-Froio (SR/Yonkers, NY) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the loss.

Trailing 1-0 after one half inning in game two, FSC scored a run in the bottom of the first and three more in the second.

After a scoreless third, Purchase would hit a pair of two-out RBI singles in the top of the fourth to close within just one, 4-3.

Farmingdale would answer by recording eight runs on seven hits in the bottom of the inning to take a 12-3 advantage.

In the top of the fifth, the first two Panthers would reach base safely but Julia Walpole would force a double play and a ground out to secure the 12-3 run-rule win.

For Purchase, first baseman Antonina Fiore (SR/Mount Sinai, NY), right fielder Daniella Edelson (JR/Hopewell Junction, NY) and left fielder Lisa Kentris (JR/Latham, NY) each went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
