Farmingdale, NY
(April 14, 2018) – Farmingdale State midfielder Conor McAvoy tallied a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists as the FSC men's lacrosse team earned a 20-5 Skyline Conference victory over Purchase College Saturday.
The Rams (8-5, 2-2) outscored Purchase 9-0 in the first quarter. McAvoy had two goals and four assists, while midfielder James Ragland scored four goals, including two on man-up opportunities.
After a pair of Purchase (4-7, 1-3) goals early in the second cut the deficit to 9-2, FSC responded with scores from attack AJ Sandorfi, Ragland and McAvoy to take a 12-2 advantage into the break.
The only two goals in the third quarter came from McAvoy and attack Jake Borresen to put the Rams in front by 12, 14-2.
FSC never looked back.
Later, Purchase outscored Farmingdale, 3-2, over the final minutes, but the great start by the hosts was too much to overcome.
Purchase was led by midfielder
Ben Erkan (FR/Bellport, NY). He scored a pair of goals and had a team-high six ground balls.
