(April 28, 2018) – Purchase women's lacrosse concluded its season Saturday on the road at USMMA.
The top-seeded Mariners posted a 15-4 win. USMMA is now 12-2 and a perfect 7-0 in the Skyline Conference. Purchase ends the season at 7-6, including 2-5 in league.
The Mariners quickly scored the first three goals of the game in the opening five-plus minutes before the Panthers got on the board with their first tally of the day at 23:15.
Merchant Marine took control of the game, scoring the next seven goals to take a 10-1 lead at 10:30 of the first half.
Purchase scored once more in the first and the Mariners led 10-2 at halftime. USMMA scored five of the seven goals in the second half to seal it.
Three Panther players recorded a team-high two points each – seniors
Zoe Hines (SR/Maplewood, NJ) and
Kelly Turtell (SR/Farmingdale, NY) and rookie
Gabriella Castles (FR/Bethpage, NY). Castles scored twice, while Hines and Turtell both had a goal and an assist each.
Maddy Mecca (FR/Oceanside, NY) added an assist. In goal,
Allyson Wong (FR/Staten Island, NY) made 11 saves in the losing effort.
