Monthly, Sports Information will report on a former Purchase College student-athlete, coach/administrator, or famous alum, and where the world has taken them these days. Today's "Where Are They Now?" – Max Pearce '18
Purchase, NY
(Sept. 5, 2018) – New Panther alum
Max Pearce has already shown that his aerial talents can take him near and far – both literally and figuratively.
The 6-foot high-flyer has blossomed into a local star the past two years, culminating in a memorable appearance this past spring in the Slam Dunk Championships at the Final Four in San Antonio, TX.
Now, Pearce is set to be a real globetrotter … as in the newest member of the Harlem Globetrotters. The world famous club, which was founded in 1926, inked Pearce to a contract this week (pictured above).
"I am so excited to announce this news," Pearce said. "This is a dream come true for me."
The first recruit of
head coach Kyle Martin, the former Purchase guard was a three-year Panther contributor. He graduated in May.
He also becomes the first Panther basketball player in history to join the Globetrotters.
An elated Martin said he is beyond proud of Pearce's recent achievements, which include a standout career in the classroom, too.
"The Globetrotters are the largest and most successful exhibition basketball franchise in the world, and have played over 26,000 games in 122 countries," Martin noted on the team's Instagram. "This is huge for the campus community, Purchase basketball, and terrific news for Max and his family."
