Purchase, NY (Jan. 15, 2019) – Despite a hard fought home game, Purchase men's basketball fell to SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday night as the visiting Panthers pulled away late in the second half with a final score of 92-87.

Both teams opened the game with back-and-forth baskets. In the sixth minute, a three-pointer from center Mike Felix (SR/ Goshen, NY) broke the tie putting the Panthers ahead with a score of 12-9. Purchase maintained this advantage for the remainder of the first half, going into halftime with a 44-41 lead.

While scoring remained close in the beginning of the second half, Old West took back the lead in the eleventh minute after guard Justin Alleyne-Washington sunk two free throws.

Big numbers from Old Westbury's Alan McDonald propelled the visiting Panthers to keep the lead and put away the win as the senior forward earned the game high 25 total points, along with grabbing 10 rebounds.

Alleyne-Washington trailed close behind with 20 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Senior guard Willie Britton (Queens, NY) kept Purchase in the competition with 19 total points and five assists.

Jorge Perdomo (SO/Bronx, NY) shot well from the three-point line, sinking five 3's to total 17 points on the night. Perdomo contributed defensively as well, finishing with five boards.

Old Westbury's Skyline record improves to 7-3 (9-6 overall) with the win, while Purchase's drops to 5-5 (7-7 overall).

Purchase will travel to face conference competitor Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday at 7 p.m.
