(Jan. 24, 2019) – Down two of its starters, the Purchase College fell to visiting Mount Saint Mary College, 80-42, in Skyline Conference women's basketball action Thursday evening.
The Mount (15-4, 12-0 SKY) jumped ahead early, leading 16-7 after the opening quarter. The Knights continued to connect in the second stanza with a convincing 19-13 run to stretch their lead to 35-20 at the break.
MSMC's Annie Keenan opened the third quarter with a three-pointer but Purchase answered back with a
Nyasia Harris (SR/South Fallsburg, NY) layup on the next possession. The Mount closed the period on a 23-11 run, stretching its lead to as many as 31 along the way.
The Knights did not relent in the final 10 minutes, putting up another 19 points to secure the 80-42 victory.
MSMC's Morina Bojka led all scorers with 20 points, while pulling down a team-best seven rebounds. Katie Smith, Lauren Desrats and Keenan also reached double-digit scoring with 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
For Purchase, Harris recorded her second double-double of the season with a team-high 13 points and 10 boards.
Amber Yarter (SR/Albany, NY) led the charge in the first half with eight points after shooting 3-for-5 (2-4 3PT).
The Panthers return to their home court this Saturday to host the US Merchant Marine Academy at noon.
