ALLENTOWN, Penn. - The Purchase College men's basketball team collected its first win of the 2019-20 season Saturday, dominating Bryn Athyn College, 92-70, at the Scotty Wood Tournament.
For the Panthers, the victory was a polar-opposite performance when compared to last night, as the team rebounded from a season-low 50 points against Neumann to drop a season-high mark over the Lions of Bryn Athyn.
After each side converted a layup to begin the game, the Panthers (1-4) scored the next nine points to snatch the lead at 11-2. Purchase never looked back and actually never trailed or were tied again over the 40-minute contest.
Bryn Athyn (0-4) tried to remain in the game, cutting the advantage to just 10 points early in the second half. But three-straight three-pointers from the Panthers effectively ended any comeback chance for the Lions from then on.
In fact, Purchase shot the lights out all game long, going 56% from the field, 35% on three-pointers and 90% from the foul line. Meanwhile, the Lions went just 35%, 24% and 82% respectively.
Senior
Maxx Miller (White Plains, NY) torched the Lions for a season-high 30 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Jorge Perdomo (JR/Bronx, NY) finished with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists, while
Eric Block (JR/Warwick, NY) scored 18 points for the Panthers.
Elijah Harris (SR/Flushing, NY) recorded 15 points and
Kyle Menard (SO/Paramus, NJ) nearly collected a double-double for Purchase, as he nabbed 10 rebounds and nine points.
For the Lions, three players finished with 11 points each in the effort.
Up next for PC is a return home, as the Panthers host Lehman College on November 26th. That contest is set for 8 p.m. and will be preceded by the women's basketball team against USMMA at 6 p.m. You can follow both contests right here.
