Panthers earn fourth straight win against conference rival Yeshiva

Purchase, N.Y.— The women's basketball team picked up a victory on the road last night against conference competitor Yeshiva Maccabees with a final score of 62-48.

The Maccabees opened up the night with scoring with a foul pointer from Tehilla Teigman, but the Panthers fired back within the next 15 seconds with a layup scored by Nyasia Harris (SR/South Fallsburg, N.Y.). The lead then shifted three times in the first quarter, and Yeshiva entered the second with a lead of 18-14.

Scoring continued for both teams as Yeshiva managed to stay ahead. It wasn't until Arta Krasniqi (JR/Bronx, N.Y.) sunk a lay-up with 2:18 to spare in the second quarter that put Purchase ahead, 24-23. The Panthers finished the first half of the matchup with a lead of 33-25.

This propelled high scoring for Purchase in the second half, as they held the lead for the remainder of the game until they capped the 62-48 win.

Amber Jones (SR/Bronx, N.Y.) lead the Panther's as she finished the night with 15 points, along with grabbing six rebounds. Amber Yarter (SR/Albany, N.Y.) trailed close behind with 12 points and five rebounds, respectively.

Harris shared the game high 12 rebounds with Yeshiva's Michel Alge. Krasniqi had an impressive night defensively earning six blocks.

For the Maccabee's, Nicole Bick earned the game high 20 points.

Purchase's Skyline conference record improved to 9-8, as Yeshiva's dropped to 3-14.

The Panther's will head into another conference matchup tonight against the College of Mount Saint Vincent as they celebrate their six senior's last home game at 6 p.m.
