PURCHASE, NY – Men's lacrosse seniors
Dylan Gethicker,
Brady Fahy and
Isaac Aguero combined for seven points to lead the Panthers to an 11-7 Skyline victory over the visiting Dolphins from the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday night.
Prior to the opening whistle, Purchase celebrated the trio for their dedication to the program with a Senior Night ceremony.
Gethicker (Lime Lake, NY), a two-year captain and three-year starter, has been instrumental in building this program since its debut season in 2017. He was named the 2017 Purchase Male Rookie of the Year, earned a place on the 2018 All-Skyline Second Team and to-date holds the program record for career points (138). Gethickicker led the Panthers in Thursday's victory with three goals and two assists.
Fahy (Rochester, NY), a staple to the PC back line, has started in all 25 games over the past two seasons. The 6-6 defender ripped one past CMSV goalkeeper Christian Brody in the third quarter to push the Panthers lead to 5-3.
Aguero (Bronx, NY) has been vital part of the program since its start in 2017. This season, his best to date, has led him to 11 starts at midfield. After recording the game-winning goal on Thursday, Aguero stands at a career 15 goals, 11 assists and 38 points.
Freshman attacker
Christian Ishoo (Tarrytown, NY) and junior attacker
Dan Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT) also contributed to the Panther offense with a combined four goals, while freshmen midfielders
Joseph Ely (North Salem, NY) and
Ayotunde Otuyelu (Staten Island, NY) chipped in with one goal each.
CMSV broke the scoring ice with a pair of goals from Jarrett McLean and Patrick Nagy in the first quarter. Trailing 2-0, Gethicker slipped one past the Dolphin netminder with less than two minutes remaining in the stanza.
The visitors stretched their lead to 3-1 thanks to the unassisted effort of Anthony Pedatella, but Purchase rallied with three unanswered goals to jump out in front of the Dolphins, 5-3, at the break.
Fahy fueled the Panther rally in the third quarter with an unassisted goal at 12:11. The Mount's Matthew Pincus and Nagy recorded the next two goals for the visitors to tie the game at 5-5, but the comeback was short-lived as Purchase ignited with a 5-0 run to take back the lead (10-5).
Ely secured the win for the Panthers and recorded the final goal of the game en route to the 11-7 triumph.
Purchase looks to continue its win streak in its next contest at St. Joseph's College (L.I.) on Tuesday.
