PURCHASE, NY - The Purchase College men's basketball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday night, as the Panthers breezed past Manhattanville College, 96-74, in a Skyline Conference game.
Purchase has now won seven of its last eight games and sits at 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Valiants of Manhattanville to 7-5 and 2-1 respectively.
From the get-go, the Panthers dominated.
The lone time Purchase trailed in the contest came four minutes in at 9-8. But from there, the guests exploded to the tune of 54 first-half points. At the break, they led Manhattanville by 29 points after shooting 58% during the opening 20 minutes.
That incredible shooting continued in the second half, as Purchase shot 59% from the field and led by a minimum of 22 points the entire frame. The Panthers also dominated rebounds (46-35) and points in the paint (68-40) on the night, as the cruised to the easy win.
A trio of seniors powered the Panthers throughout, as the squad entered the contest looking to avenge the tough loss suffered to Sarah Lawrence College over the weekend.
Purchase's leading scorer,
Elijah Lott (SR/Albany, NY), who missed the previous contest due to injury, picked up right where he left off, finishing with a game-high 27 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Meanwhile,
Maxx Miller (SR/White Plains, NY), the team's leading scorer this past weekend, recorded 24 points, while
Elijah Harris (SR/Flushing, NY) tallied a season-high 19 points in the win.
For Manhattanville, JoJo Cobbs (SR/Elmsford, NY) led the team with 21 points on the night. As a team, the hosts shot just 38% for the game.
