NEW YORK, NY – Senior guard Chana Boltax sank two free throws with six seconds left in regulation time—the first to tie the game and the second for the go-ahead point—earning the Yeshiva University women's basketball team the 64-63 Skyline Conference win against Purchase College Thursday night inside the ARC Gymnasium.
The Maccabees rolled together a furious fourth-quarter rally to erase a five-point Purchase lead. With just over a minute left on the clock, Tehilla Teigman connected on a jumper inside the paint to make it a one-point game. Both teams would exchange missed shots on their next possession before Boltax poured in the pair of free throws to win the game.
Teigman led all scorers in the game with 24 points. The senior forward also put in work defensively, grabbing 14 rebounds and four steals. Teammates Adina Rosenberg and Yuvel Nitzan rounded off the double-digit scoring for Yeshiva with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
For Purchase, sophomore forward
Shadai Plowden (Yonkers, NY) recorded a team-best 20 points and seven rebounds, to go along with a game-high six steals. Junior guard and tri-captain
Dejeana Peoples tallied 15 points and five boards, while freshman center
Reina Lebron (Queens, NY) notched 11 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Up next, the Panthers get set for a quick turnaround as they play host to neighboring Manhattanville College tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
