NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team secured a scoreless draw at St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn Saturday afternoon, as the two Skyline Conference foes faced off on Randall's Island.
With the tie, Purchase moved to 4-8-2 overall and 1-7-2 in conference action. Meanwhile, the Bears now stand at 4-6-3 and 2-4-3 respectively.
Despite 110 minutes of gameplay, both sides left the pitch with no goals to their name, as the two defenses stood tall all game. In total, Purchase outshot SJC-Brooklyn, 13-11 overall and 4-3 on goal.
The best scoring chance of the match came in 77th minute, when
Leo Conte's (SO/New York, NY) shot nailed the crossbar, before ultimately bouncing back into the field of play.
Afterwards, Purchase's offense pushed hard during the final minutes of a regulation and in overtime in an attempt to win the match, but wasn't able to find the shot it needed.
In goal,
Mario Olmedo (JR/East Elmhurst, NY) tallied three saves in the clean sheet effort, while Conte finished with two shots on goal.
