PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College concluded its 2021 campaign with a Skyline Conference home game against Mount Saint Mary College Wednesday night.
A strong start for the Knights loomed large as the visitors recorded the win, 8-0.
Six different Knights scored over the 90 minutes, led by Raina Quinones and Lauren Engel with two goals apiece.
MSMC (8-6-2, 7-1-1 Skyline) controlled play for much of the evening and broke through with the eventual game-winning goal in the seventh minute. Ashlee Peters made a pass to Wendy Guerra who deposited her second goal of the season at the 6:03 mark.
A little over a minute later, Chloe Kennedy and Peters connected with Nikki Carter for the second goal of the game.
Quinones, Megan Stosch and Engel combined for a trio of unanswered goals to stretch the visitors' advantage to 5-0 at the break.
The Knights held a commanding 13-3 edge in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks at the intermission.
Mount Saint Mary played in its attacking third for the majority of the second half, but would not break through with a goal until the 67th minute.
Liz Ellsworth buried a shot from Maggie-Ann Zecca to make it 6-0 in favor of the visitors.
Engel and Quinones netted the final two goals and capped the scoring for the game as MSMC secured its 8-0 victory.
The visitors finished with a lopsided advantage in each team category, outshooting Purchase 39-3 overall, 15-2 in shots on goal and added a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
