WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's basketball team took its talents to the Division I level, competing against the Black Knights of Army West Point Tuesday evening inside Christl Arena.
The exhibition game fell in favor of Army, 97-40, but the result did not hinder the DI experience for Purchase.
The host Black Knights tied a program record 16 made 3-pointers and finished with a season-best 61 rebounds, 22 assists and 12 steals en route to the non-conference victory.
Army's Aaron Duhart led the game in scoring with 12 points to be in double figures for the second straight game. He chipped in six rebounds and two steals, while Jalen Rucker finished with 11 points and a game-high seven assists.
Senior guard
Jordan Knochen (Maybrook, NY) led Purchase with seven points and three assists.
Terrence Mason (JR/Greenburgh, NY) came off the bench to lead all defensive players with 10 rebounds and four blocks, to go along with six points.
Justin Mason (FR/Staten Island, NY) also chipped in six points, while James Brady (SR/Yonkers, NY) and
Matthew Phillips (FR/Bronx, NY) netted five points apiece and combined for 12 boards.
Purchase will continue its non-conference road slate this Saturday in Clinton, N.Y. as the Panthers get ready to take on the Continentals of Hamilton College. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
