Game One: Purchase 15, Yeshiva 4
The Panthers started strong in the opener, scoring two runs in the first and two more in the second for a 4-1 lead.
Myles Scarry (FR/Levittown, NY) singled and plated Flynn for the game's first run. Scarry later came around to score on a Jorgensen RBI single up the middle.
Rose followed in the second, taking ball four to get on and later scoring on what should have been a sacrifice fly by
James Shea (JR/Brooklyn, NY). The routine play for the Maccabee defense resulted in an error and brought Rose around to score. Scarry drove home Mulligan on a sacrifice fly to left field for the three-run lead.
Yeshiva fired back in the fourth, scoring three runs to tie the game at 4-4. The frame was highlighted by a 2-RBI triple by Charles Bendheim, who scored on the same play as a result of a Panther error.
The tie didn't last long, however, as Purchase drove in seven runs on three hits, two errors and a balk in the bottom half of the inning to take an 11-4 lead. Mulligan scored the game-winning run on a balk.
