PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Purchase women's tennis team chalked an 8-1 decision against the visiting Manhattanville College Valiants Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Panther's advance to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the Valiants drop to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Action got underway with doubles play as Nikita Kordzielewska (SR/Stepnica, Poland) and Sophia Cenatiempo (SR/Woodbury, CT) topped Bea Pretnar and Ella Brown at the No. 1 spot, 8-7 (7-2).
Second doubles saw Olivia Menchell (SO/Los Angeles, CA) and Elaina Coppola (JR/White Plains, NY) net an 8-1 victory over Victoria Stele and Alana Anderson. Sierra Blanco (FR/New York, NY) and Novalie Nguyen (FR/Rochester, NY) also put in work for an 8-7 (7-1) victory at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Purchase went on to pick up wins at five of the six singles positions.
Ally Petricca picked up the only victory of the afternoon for Manhattanville. The No. 6 singles player defeated Kali Secrest (JR/Hartsdale, NY), 6-1, 6-2.
The Panthers look to add another win in league standings as they return to the courts at Sarah Lawrence College on Friday (Oct. 14) at 5 p.m.
