PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by St. Joseph's University-Long Island Monday evening, dropping the Skyline Conference matchup in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-7, 25-13 and 25-12.
With the loss, the Panthers moved to 2-15 overall and 1-6 in the league. For the Golden Eagles, they improved to 11-8 and 5-2, respectively.Â
From the get-go Monday, St. Joseph's University jumped out to a big advantage and never let the Panthers get close.
In all three sets, the hosts built leads of at least 10 points each time, and had five separate four-point runs in the win.
Purchase's offense struggled to match the output of the Golden Eagles, as it hit -.120 on the night and tallied just nine kills.Â
Individually,
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (SO/Sag Harbor, NY) recorded four kills and seven digs, whileÂ
Karina Medina (SR/Brooklyn, NY) added three kills and six assists in the effort.
Up next for Purchase is Senior Night, as the team hosts Maritime College on October 19th at 7 p.m. The Senior Night ceremony will take place beforehand around 6:40 p.m.
