Women's Soccer Falls to MSMC in Season Finale

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The 2022 campaign came to a close for Purchase women's soccer Wednesday night at Kaplan Stadium. Mount Saint Mary College earned a 9-0 Skyline shutout over the Panthers, advancing its record to 6-10-3 overall and 6-3-2 in the league. Purchase caps the season at 5-10 overall and 2-9 against Skyline opponents.

A strong start for the Knights loomed large in the mid-week matchup. Angie Mainiero broke the scoring ice in the first minute of the game and the hosts never looked back. The strong start loomed large for the Knights as seven players, including Mainiero, combined for nine goals over the 90 minutes of action.

Mainiero and Kaitlin Hansen led the MSMC attack with two goals apiece.

Mount held possession in Purchase's defensive third for majority of the game, finishing with 39 shots (27 on goal). Purchase was limited to just one shot on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Carolyn Hough (Massapequa, NY) (2-8) was tasked with facing those shots. The Panther rookie recorded 18 saves in the loss, capping her season save total at 126 (.720) overall.
