NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Purchase College men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling at Connecticut College by the score of 78-36.
With the result, both the Panthers and Camels moved to 2-1 on the young season.
After opening the game with five-straight points, Purchase was outscored over the remainder of the first half by the total of 31-13.
In the second frame, the guests never got closer than 15 points, as Connecticut rolled to the win.
The Panthers were limited to just 18 points in each half, and shot a rough 21.9 percent from the field in the defeat.
Individually,
Matthew Phillips (SO/Bronx, NY) tallied a double-double with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Mark Morgan (SR/Bronx, NY) added nine points and four rebounds, while
Terrence Mason (JR/Greenburgh, NY) chipped in seven points in the effort.
For the Camels, they shot a lights-out 48.6 percent for the game and had three players finish with double-digit points.
Up next for the Panthers is more non-conference road action, as they travel south to New Jersey to take on Ramapo College.
