PURCHASE, N.Y. - Despite a career-high 23 points for senior Miya Ritchie, the Purchase College women's basketball team was defeated by SUNY Old Westbury Thursday night, 67-47.

Entering the contest, Ritchie's (Harlem, NY) previous mark was 18 points, which she set just a week ago against Yeshiva University. For the season, she now has seven games of double-digits points. 

Elsewhere, Purchase (1-16 overall and 1-13 Skyline Conference) got 12 points from Alyssa Aurora (SR/Ossining, NY), while Jules Martinez (SR/Brooklyn, NY) added nine rebounds and six steals.

The effort wasn't enough to top the Panthers of Old Westbury however, as the guests (6-8, 5-8 Skyline) outpaced Purchase from the get-go.

Old Westbury scored nine of the first 11 points on the night, before carrying a 22-9 advantage into the second quarter. That margin extended further following the frame, as the guests led 37-15 at halftime.

In the second half, Purchase never got closer than 20 points, eventually falling to their Skyline rival by that same margin.

Up next for the women's basketball team is a home matchup with the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College on February 5th. The last time these two teams met, the Panthers edged Sarah Lawrence for their lone win of the season.
