PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College took to its home court Wednesday evening to play host to the Skyline Conference powerhouse St. Joseph's College (LI) Golden Eagles.
The visitors hit .262 and knocked down 33 kills to defeat the Panthers, 3-0.
With set scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-13, St. Joe's improved to 15-3 overall and 5-0 in the Skyline. Purchase dipped to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in the league.
SJC graduate student Paul Curaro led all scorers with 10 kills and a notable .467 attacking percentage. Mark Williams tallied nine kills (.158) and five service aces, while Matthew Dolan produced a match-high nine aces.
Sophomore setter Clint Johnson tossed up 23 assists, while William Loeven and Dolan both notched one block assist.

Joe Higgins (Bayside, NY) paced the Panther lineup with five kills on 11 attempts with just two errors (.273), to go along with a match-high five digs. Senior co-captain and right side
Jeremiah Huntt (Bronx, NY) tallied four kills, while freshman middle
Marcus Garguilo (Port Washington, NY) finished with a pair of kills (.333) and a match-best two blocks (1 solo). Senior outside hitter
Dan McDonough (East Hampton, NY) chipped in with two kills (.167).
Junior setter
Idris Idris (Bronx, NY) produced 12 assists and two digs, and combined with freshman teammate
Mario Olmedo (East Elmhurst, NY) for a pair of service aces.
The Panthers and Golden Eagles will go head-to-head again this Saturday as both teams travel to Riverdale, N.Y. for a Skyline tri-match hosted by the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
Purchase will open against SJC at noon, followed by a 2 p.m. match against the host Dolphins.
