FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Purchase men's lacrosse concluded its season Friday on the road at Farmingdale State.
The host Rams posted a 22-4 win and finish with an 11-3 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the Skyline Conference—clinching a playoff spot in the Skyline semifinal round. The Panthers end the season at 5-9, including 0-7 in league.
The Rams opened with seven unanswered goals before Purchase got on the board with its first goal of the day. Senior midfielder
Ben Erkan (Bellport, NY) notched the unassisted tally with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter.
Jake Wandle netted passes from Terrence Haggerty and Hunter Lyons, and Michael Cassano assisted a Haggerty goal before scoring one of his own to stretch Farmindale's advantage to 13-1.
Midway through the second quarter, PC junior midfielder
Angus Goldman (Palisades, NY) took advantage of a man-up opportunity and scored off the feed from
Conor Schwenker (Westhampton Beach, NY).
Despite tallies from seniors
Cristian Ishoo (Tarrytown, NY) and Erkan during the final 30 minutes, Purchase was unable to climb out of the 13-2 halftime deficit as the Panthers were later tagged with the season-ending loss.
Erkan led the Panthers with the two goals as he caps his Panther career with 73 total. Ishoo's tally seals his career at 23 goals, while Goldman pushed his own season total to 16 goals.
