NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by The City College of New York Friday evening, falling in straight sets to the non-conference foe.

Set scores for the contest were 25-11, 25-6, 25-14. 

With the loss, the Panthers dropped to 1-5 overall. As for CCNY, the Beavers improved their season mark to 6-1.

On the night, the hosts dominated from the get-go as they rarely let Purchase mount an offensive presence.

To begin, CCNY raced out to a 5-0 lead, pushing the margin to as many as 16 points before securing the set one win, 25-11.

Set two was even more one sided, with the Beavers scoring 22 of the first 23 points of the set.

Purchase's best set of the night came during the final stanza, as the guests scored five of the first seven points and match-best 14 points.

However, it wasn't enough to extend the match, as CCNY closed out the frame with a big rally midway through to earn the match win.

For the Panthers, Briana Thompson (SR/Bronx, NY) and Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (SO/Sag Harbor, NY) led the way with three kills apiece. 

Lauren White (JR/Washington, D.C.) collected five aces and 10 digs, while Samantha Fasce (SR/Yorktown Heights, NY) recorded seven assists in the defeat.
