PURCHASE, N.Y. – Lilli Marin scored a pair of goals while five different Dolphins netted one apiece, leading the College of Mount Saint Vincent to a 7-0 win over Purchase College Wednesday evening.
The host Panthers (4-3, 2-1 Skyline) held the Dolphins in check until Naomi Juvera sent a long ball to Alicia Rodriguez, who opened up the scoring with a breakaway to goal.
Gabriella Del Castillo scored at 10:11 followed by Victoria Gamarra and Marin at 14:40 and 22:59, respectively, to bring the Dolphins to a comfortable 4-0 advantage at the break.
The final 45 minutes saw some improvement in Purchase's attacking third, including a run towards the Dolphin 18-yard box that drew a foul and free kick for the home team. Panther forward
Kristen Purcell (SR/Sauquoit, NY) ripped a shot from outside the box to the upper left corner but the attempt was dismissed by Dolphin netminder Javiera Sanchez, who made an impressive diving save to preserve the shutout.
Purcell's shot on goal was the only one Purchase over the 90 minutes of action. CMSV on the other hand lit up the board three more times in the second half to secure the 7-0 win.
The Panthers were outshot 35-4 including a 24-1 shots on net differential.
Purchase rookie goalie
Carolyn Hough (FR/Massapequa, NY) totaled a notable 17 saves as the Dolphins employed a consistent attack throughout the entire game.
Hoping to bounce back from Wednesday's loss, the Panthers return to Skyline action on Saturday, Oct. 1 at St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn). Game start is slated for 5 p.m.
