Women's Soccer Concludes 2023 Campaign at Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Purchase College women's soccer concluded the 2023 season on the road at Farmingdale State Thursday night, ultimately falling to an 8-0 defeat.

The Panthers cap the records at 4-11-4 overall and 2-9 in Skyline Conference play, with their playoff hopes dashed. Farmingdale finishes the regular season with a record of 8-2-1 in the league, while clinching the No. 2 seed for the upcoming postseason tournament.

FSC jumped out to an early lead, scoring just 16 seconds into the game. Freshman forward Stephanie Alberghine capitalized on a cross from senior forward Celina Schenk for the eventual game-winning goal.

The Rams extended their lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute when sophomore midfielder Sydney Kranick gathered a deflected ball and assisted Schenk for another goal.

Alberghine wasn't done yet, securing her second unassisted goal minutes later, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of the home team

FSC tacked on two more goals before halftime to lead 5-0 at the break.

The Rams outshot the Panthers 20-3 over the opening 45 minutes and would continue the relentless attack in the second half.  Less than six minutes into the stanza, the hosts found the back of the net again. Gracie Heilbrun sent a pass to Taylor Boes, who scored the sixth goal of the game.

Farmingdale added two more tallies over the final 20 minutes of play en route to the 8-0 win.

Sophomore goalkeepers Kelsie Feingold and Gabby Pinero split time in the Farmingdale net to secure the shutout victory.

Farmingdale State has earned a bye for the First Round of the Skyline Conference Championship and will host the Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Panther sophomore Carolyn Hough (Massapequa, NY) recorded 11 saves in the loss for Purchase.
