NEW LONDON, CT – The Purchase College men's lacrosse team returned to its winning ways Wednesday afternoon, netting a 10-0 decision against non-conference Mitchell College.

The win marked the second shutout tally in program history as the Panthers improved to 3-5 overall. Mitchell dropped to 0-8 in defeat.

The Purchase defense was solid all game, holding the hosts to only five shots on goal and forcing 30 turnovers.

Sophomore goalie Will Boes (Pleasantville, NY) recorded five saves over 60 minutes of action for the win.

Purchase also played tough in the middle, holding a 16-13 edge in clears, 30-26 in ground balls and 9-5 in face offs against the Mariners.

Six different Panthers contributed to the scoring effort. Zach Collins (SO/Victor, NY) led the charge with four goals and two assists, while Angus Goldman (SR/Palisades, NY) netted two and assisted on one. Quran Langston (FR/Stamford, CT), Kevon Joseph (FR/Brooklyn, NY), Andrew Agosto (SO/Poughkeepsie, NY) and Ayotunde Otuyelu (SR/Staten Island, NY) rounded out the PC scoring with one goal apiece.

Goldman broke the scoring ice with the eventual game-winner less than a minute into the opening quarter. Collins recorded the assist. Minutes later, Agosto collected a pass from Goldman and scored to push Purchase to a 2-0 lead. 

In the second quarter, Collins took advantage of a man-up opportunity and found the back of the net off the feed from Shakim Carr (FR/Brooklyn, NY).

Purchase held a 3-0 halftime lead and erupted with four more goals in the third quarter to stretch it to 7-0.

The Panthers closed the final 15 minutes with a trio of tallies to secure the 10-0 shutout.

Mitchell goalie Ethan Wheeler was tagged with the loss. He recorded 12 saves over 60 minutes of action.
