PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Hunter College Wednesday afternoon.

Hunter's Olivia Palumbo recorded two triples and three RBI to lead the Hawks to a 14-1 (5 inning) victory over Purchase in game one. The visitors kept their momentum going in game two, closing the afternoon with a 10-2 (5 inning) win. 

With the pair of wins, Hunter advanced to 5-10 overall. Purchase dropped to 1-2 on the season. 

Game One: Hunter 14, Purchase 1
The Hawk offense combined for 12 runs and starting pitcher T'ea Panagakos retired 6-of-7 Purchase batters across the first two innings. 

Hunter struck again in the top of the third but Purchase fired back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of its own. Senior outfielder Alexandria Perez (Bronx, NY) got things started with a double to left center before Brianna Palermo (SR/Hyde Park, NY) broke the scoring ice for PC with a RBI-single through the left side. 

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth and Hunter tacked on a security run in the fifth to close the game out in front, 14-1. 

Panther starter Tara Sasso (SR/North Rockland, NY) was tagged with the loss after giving up the first five runs. Palermo came in for relief in the first inning and recorded one strikeout with four walks and 10 hits across five innings. 

Game Two: Hunter 10, Purchase 2
Hunter jumped out to an early lead again in game two. Palumbo led the way with two hits on two trips to the plate, one RBI and two runs scored. 

Purchase rookie Kelly Jennings (FR/Yorktown Heights, NY) lit up the board in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-RBI double to right center. Katherine Combe (SO/Brooklyn, NY) and Perez rounded out the PC hits in the nightcap with one apiece.

Sasso (1-2) picked up her second loss of the day after returning to the circle for Purchase in game two. She gave up 10 runs (8 ER) off six hits with nince walks and two strikeouts.  

Hunter's Alyssa Curiale (1-1) recorded the win after putting in five innings of work.
