NEW YORK, N.Y. - Purchase College first-year student
Liam Daly was named the Skyline Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Daly (Babylon, NY) went 9 for 20 over five games last week, finishing with three doubles, two triples, five RBIs, six runs and six stolen bases along the way.
During a pair of wins over the City College of New York, he recorded four hits total, three of which were extra-base hits.Â
For the season, Daly leads the Panthers in nearly every major hitting category including batting average (.467), hits (42), doubles (11), triples (6), home runs (2), RBIs (20), runs (30) and on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) (1.273).
Additionally, the first-year star leads the team in stolen bases with 19, and sits in the top-5 in nearly every category listed above among all Skyline Conference players.
This is the second time Daly has been recognized as the Skyline Rookie of the Week, and it's his fifth overall award for the season.
For the Panthers, the squad currently sits at 11-14 overall and 3-4 in Skyline Conference matchups.
Up next is a single, nine-inning game at home against Yeshiva University on April 19 at 3 p.m. Later this week, the Panthers welcome the United States Merchant Marine Academy on April 22 and St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on April 23 for doubleheaders.
