PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College dropped a home Skyline Conference contest to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 18-4, on Saturday afternoon.
The loss moved the Panthers to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the league, while USMMA improved to 8-6, 5-1.
The visitors opened with a 5-0 run in the first five minutes of action. Leading 7-0 after the first quarter, the Mariners stretched it to a comfortable 12-0 advantage before Purchase finally lit up the board. 
Freshman midfielder 
Shakim Carr (Brooklyn, NY) broke the scoring ice for the Panthers with a pair of unassisted goals in the final five minutes of the second quarter. 
USMMA held a 13-2 lead at the half and rattled off another five goals over the final 30 minutes en route to the 18-4 decision. 
Purchase senior 
Angus Goldman (Palisades, NY) tallied two goals, a man-up tally off the feed from 
Andrew Agosto (SO/Poughkeepsie, NY) at 1:03 in the third followed by an unassisted hook in the final minute of the game, to cap the scoring for the home team. 
Nine different Mariners combined for the team's 18 goals. Owen Barcus and Jack Meyer led all scorers with four goals apiece, while Carter Hall netted three and William Badeer recorded two tallies. 
Purchase goalie 
Will Boes (SO/Pleasantville, NY) suffered the loss despite shutting down 15 shots on goal. With the loss, Boes dropped to 6-8 overall.
