PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College women's tennis battled Yeshiva University Tuesday afternoon in the program's season, home and Skyline opener.
The Maccabees edged the hosts, 6-3, despite trailing 2-1 after doubles play.
At the top flight in doubles, Panthers
Elaina Coppola (SR/White Plains, NY) and
Amelia Perlmutter (FR/Rutherford, NY) pulled out all the stops to defeat Shira Adler and Micah Mamoun in a hard-fought 8-5 decision.
Olivia Menchell (JR/Los Angeles, CA) and
Emma Arnaud (SO/Farmington, NY) collected Purchase's second point after battling Liana Friedman and Abigain Rosenfeld to an 8-7 (8-6) triumph at second doubles.
The Panthers' narrow lead was quickly erased however, as Yeshiva rallied with four unanswered points in singles play to clinch the match.
Purchase will look to rebound next week at home, when they welcome Brooklyn College on Sept. 7.
