KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in its season finale Thursday night, falling to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-12.
From the beginning, the Blue and Orange were outpaced, as the hosts scored 12 of the first 14 points. That momentum carried over into the final two sets, as USMMAÂ snatched the lead early and never relented.
Overall, Purchase finished with 18 kills on -.041 hitting, while the Mariners recorded totals of 33 and .235, respectively.
Individually,
Helena Carroll (FY/Lancaster, PA) paced the Panthers with seven points (five kills, two aces), 10 assists and six digs.
Sadie Weiss (FY/Bronx, NY) totaled four kills and six digs, while
Natalia Leite (SO/Thornwood, NY) finished with a team-high 10 digs.
For the season, Purchase finished 6-15 overall and 3-8 in the Skyline Conference. Those win totals were the team's highest in a season since 2013.
Purchase College women's volleyball will return next year in September for the 2025 season.
