PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's basketball team fell to Manhattanville University, 67-36, in a Skyline Conference matchup on Tuesday night. With the results, the Panthers drop to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference, while the Valiants improved to 6-1 and 4-1, respectively.
Kaylena Steiner (SO/Fresno, CA) opened up the scoring for the Blue and Orange after the hosts had a gained a 4-0 lead. The teams exchanged points before Manhattanville pulled away, building a 16-point advantage by halftime, 31-15. The Valiants extended their lead in the second half and secured their 67-36 victory.
The Panthers struggled offensively against the Valiants' defense, shooting 23.4% from the field and 11.8% from beyond the arc.
Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (FY/White Plains, NY) led Purchase with 14 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Steiner contributed eight points and six boards, while
Charlee Neb (JR/Longmont, CO) added seven points and three rebounds.
Purchase out-rebounded Manhattanville 41-36, including nine offensive boards by
Kendall Larsen (SO/Staten Island, NY) and seven from
Halle Greaige (SO/Rye Brook, NY).
The Blue and Orange will wrap up their schedule before the winter break with a road matchup against The College at Old Westbury on December 14th at 2 p.m.
