Four in a Row! Panthers Topple Manhattanville on Senior Night

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team secured its fourth-straight win Tuesday night, besting Manhattanville College on Senior Night by the score of 92-83.

With the victory, the Panthers now stand at 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, they dropped to 14-7 and 8-5, respectively.

Before the contest began, the Blue and Orange celebrated a pair of graduating players - #0 Mahamadou Nimaga (SR/Bronx, NY) and #10 Isaac Johnson (SR/Bronx, NY).

The pair was honored pregame with a ceremony, gifts from their coaches and pictures with the team to commemorate all of their achievements with the squad.

Following the celebration, the Panthers quickly changed gears to focus on the task at hand - Manhattanville.

Despite the guests entering the contest with the superior record, the hosts were unfazed as they grabbed the advantage early and never relented.

In fact, the first two bucks of the night came from Johnson and Nimaga, respectively, setting the tone for the eventual victory.

In the first half, Purchase led by double digits for much of the period, extending the margin to as many as 20 points at halftime, 48-28.

Following the break, Manhattanville began to slowly but surely trim the margin. While Purchase remained in control throughout, the margin shrank to just seven points late in the period.

However, the Panthers weren't going to be denied on Senior Night, as they held on to secure the clutch win, 92-83.

Overall, the hosts shot 45.9% from the field and 40.9% from long range. As for the Valiants, they totaled marks of 46.0% and 25.0%, respectively.

Individually, Rashid Nikiema (SO/Winooski, VT) continued his recent tear, as he finished with a team-high 25 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Nimaga also racked up numbers on Senior Night, closing out his home career with 22 points, six assists and four rebounds, while Johnson added nine points and three rebounds.

Matthew Phillips (JR/Bronx, NY) chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Up next for the Panthers is a week of rest, before a massive game at Sarah Lawrence College on February 13th at 8 p.m.
