Purchase Defeated by NJCU in Skyline Matchup

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated at home Tuesday night, dropping a Skyline Conference matchup to New Jersey City University in straight sets.

Scores for the contest were 25-16, 25-13 and 25-15.

With the result, the Panthers moved to 11-9 overall and 6-3 in conference play. For the Gothic Knights, they jumped to 13-8 and 10-0, respectively.

For the Blue and Orange, they finished with 19 kills on .153 hitting. The guests more than doubled those totals with 48 kills on .520 hitting, as they controlled the game from early on.

Short scoring bursts sunk Purchase on the night, as NJCU enjoyed three and four-point runs throughout the sets to create separation.

Individually, Channing Williams (FY/Neptune, NJ) paced the hosts with nine points (eight kills and two blocks assists), while Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) added five kills and an ace.

Jael Martinez (FY/Bronx, NY) chipped in four kills, and Aidan Araza (FY/Jersey City, NJ) totaled 10 assists.

Up next for the Blue and Orange is a road matchup with Mount Saint Vincent on March 21st at 6 p.m.
