MAHWAH, N.J. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated in the First Round of the ECAC Championship Tournament Wednesday evening, falling to Ramapo College in four sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-13, 23-25, 25-21 and 25-17.
Overall, the Panthers finished with 29 kills on .055 hitting, while the Roadrunners tallied totals of 62 and .250, respectively.
Scoring runs were the theme of the night, as the hosts recorded seven runs of four points or more in a row over their three winning sets.
In the lone win of the night for the Blue and Orange, neither side scored more than three points in a row.
In fact, the Panthers didn't enjoy any such streak in the frame until they trailed, 17-14. But from there, they produced three such rallies to eventually seal the second frame.
Individually,
Channing Williams (FR/Neptune, NJ) paced the team with 10 kills, 10 digs and six blocks (one solo).Â
Nate Matthie (FY/Bronx, NY) added eight kills and 11 digs, while
Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) led all players with a season-high 22 digs.
With the loss, the Panthers concluded the 2024 season with a 17-15 record overall. For Ramapo, the win moved the squad to 19-11 and into the ECAC Semifinals against New Jersey City University.
The Purchase College men's volleyball team will return to the court in January for the 2025 campaign.
