Men's Lacrosse Defeated at Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was defeated in the Skyline Conference opener Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Mount Saint Vincent by the score of 11-2.

With the result, the Panthers moved to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the league. For the Dolphins, they jumped to 6-4 and 2-0, respectively.

It was an interesting contest for the guests, as they opened with the first goal of the day, before scoring the final goal of the contest. In between the two strikes though, the hosts poured it on to cruise to victory.

To begin, Ryan Lubowitz (SO/Stamford, CT) found the back of the net with a little over one minute played to get things started.

The Dolphins then scored six straight to lead 6-1 at halftime. Following the break, they scored another five in a row to lead 11-1.

The streak came to an end with less than three minutes remaining in the game, as Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY) scored on an unassisted effort.

Individually, Carr and Lubowitz combined for 11 shots, while Niko Sfugaras (JR/Florida, NY) led the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

In goal, Will Boes (JR/Pleasantville, NY) finished with 16 saves and two ground balls.

Up next for the Panthers is a home contest against St. Joseph's University-Long Island on April 9th at 4:30 p.m.
