Purchase Overpowered at Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team suffered tough losses at Farmingdale State College during a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

With the results, the Blue and Orange are now 9-20 overall  and 5-11 in conference action, while the Rams improved to 30-8 and 17-1, respectively.

Game One: Farmingdale 8, Purchase 0  (5 inn)

In Game One, Farmingdale set the tone with a swift start, scoring three runs in the first inning followed by five more in subsequent innings.

Despite a determined effort from the Panthers, they were unable to muster any runs on the scoreboard.

Devynn Hernandez (FY/Ossining, NY) recorded two hits and Maria Konieczny (FY/Hadley, MA) recorded the other hit of the game.

Abigail Lipkin (SO/Bethlehem, PA) took the loss on the mound after allowing seven runs on 10 hits, while Katie Straub (FY/Lynbrook, NY) pitched the final stretch and conceded one run on four hits.

Game Two: Farmingdale 2, Purchase 0 (7 inn)

Game Two saw Farmingdale State continuing their momentum, scoring two runs in the first two innings.

Meanwhile, Purchase struggled to produce hits, resulting in a 2-0 defeat.

On the mound, Samantha Christopher's (FY/North Babylon, NY) allowed two runs on five hits and recorded two strikeouts.

Up next, the Battle of Anderson Hill Road continues as the Panthers gear up for their third consecutive doubleheader against Manhattanville University on May 5th. Before the first pitch at 11 a.m., the team and coaches will honor their lone senior, Jade D'errico from Wantagh, NY.
