NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team secured another big Skyline Conference win Saturday afternoon, besting Mount Saint Mary College by the score 87-64.
With the win, the Panthers moved to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the league. For the Knights, they dropped to 1-12 and 0-4, respectively.
From the opening tip, the contest was all Blue and Orange as they cruised on the day.
In the first half, they led by as many as 20 points, before settling for a an 18-point margin at the break, 40-22.
Following halftime, the guests continued to roll, extending their margin to 35 points. In the end, Purchase walked away with a 23-point win over the conference foe.
On the day, the Panthers' offense was locked in, converting 50.8% of all field goals. For the Knights, they shot just 32.3% in the loss.
Individually,
Rashid Nikiema (JR/Winooski, VT) continued to shine, finishing with a team-high 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
Chad Duke (JR/Brooklyn, NY) added 15 points, while
Gabe Bristow (JR/Poughkeepsie, NY) and
Matthew Phillips (SR/Bronx, NY) each collected 10 points apiece.
Up next for the men's basketball team is a return home, as the squad welcomes the University of Mount Saint Vincent on January 15th at 6 p.m.
