PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team cruised to a high-scoring win Saturday afternoon, outpacing Mount Saint Mary College by the score of 95-71.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the Knights, they dropped to 2-6 and 0-1, respectively.
The 95 points were the most the squad had put up in over two years, when they totaled 97 during a win over Five Towns on November 30, 2023.
On the day, the hosts controlled the action nearly the entire way, as they grabbed the lead with just under two minutes played and never relinquished it.
In the opening half, the Blue and Orange led by as many as 17 points, before carrying a 50-40 margin into the midway break.
From there, the advantage grew more and more in the second half, eventually capping out at 27 points as the Panthers collected the easy win.
Overall, Purchase shot 53.7 percent from the field and 46.9 percent on 3-pointers, while securing the rebounding battle, 44-35.
Individually,
Sean Holzman (JR/Putnam Valley, NY) enjoyed a career-day as he nearly doubled his career-high in scoring with 27 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.
Desmond Ward (SR/Queens, NY) and
Ricky Rollins (JR/Schnectady, NY) each added 14 points, while
Trey Skeete (SR/Brooklyn, NY) chipped in 11 points and nine assists.
Up next for the Panthers is the final non-conference game of the season, as the squad hosts Westfield State University on December 17th at 3 p.m.
