Purchase Powers Past Yeshiva

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's basketball team returned to the win column Saturday afternoon, rolling past Yeshiva University, 91–68, in Skyline Conference action.

With the victory, the Blue and Orange improved to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the Skyline, while the Maccabees fell to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

Purchase set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–7 lead after the opening quarter and continued to control the pace in the second frame, shooting nearly 70 percent from the field as they stretched the margin to 43–25 heading into halftime.

Yeshiva found some offensive rhythm in the third quarter, but Purchase answered each push, maintaining control with timely stops and consistent scoring. The Panthers closed the game strong in the fourth, outscoring the visitors 26–18 to secure the 23-point win.

The depth of the Purchase lineup proved to be the difference, as the Panthers outscored Yeshiva 51–24 in bench points and capitalized on turnovers for 31 points. Purchase also dominated inside, tallying 62 points in the paint and 22 second-chance points.

Individually, Tianna Patten (FY/Mount Vernon, NY) led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, adding seven rebounds and four steals off the bench. Charlee Neb (SR/Longmont, CO) followed with 14 points, while Halle Greaige (JR/Rye Brook, NY) chipped in 12 points and six rebounds. Jamyra Mccray (FY/Brooklyn, NY) and Chloe Nieves (FY/Harlem, NY) each added nine points, with Nieves also pulling down six boards.

As a team, Purchase shot 43.6 percent from the field and forced 31 turnovers to fuel the offensive attack.

The Blue and Orange head into winter break and will resume play in the New Year, welcoming Alfred State College on January 2nd at 6 p.m.
