NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Purchase College women's basketball was defeated at Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) Tuesday night by the score of 83-45.
With the results, the Panthers are now 4-18 overall and 3-14 in the Skyline Conference, while the Knights improved to 14-8, 14-3, respectively.
Kendall Larsen (SO/Staten Island, NY) opened the scoring for the Blue and Orange with a three-pointer after the hosts took an early 4-0 lead. Purchase stayed within striking distance and briefly tied the game with three minutes left in the first quarter before MSMC closed on a run to lead 17-12 at the break.
The Knights took control in the second quarter, extending their lead and cruised to a convincing 83-45 victory at the final buzzer.
Individually, Charlee Neb (JR/Longmont, CO) paced the Panthers with 11 points and three rebounds. Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) added nine points and a steal, while Kaylena Steiner (SO/Fresno, CA) chipped in seven points. Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (FY/White Plains, NY) led the team with five rebounds.
Mount Saint Mary shot 52.1% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line, while Purchase finished at 40.5% and 77.8%, respectively.
The Blue and Orange are home Saturday to host St. Joseph's University-Long Island for Senior Day at noon.
