PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday night.
With the results, the Blue and Orange improved to 15-14 overall and 8-6 in Skyline Conference play, while the Gryphons dropped to 10-12 and 5-9, respectively.
After dropping the opening set 25-21, the Panthers responded with dominant performances in the next three sets, winning 25-17, 25-15, and 25-21.
Channing Williams (SO/Neptune, NJ) led the charge with a double-double of 18 kills and 17 digs while hitting .333.
Hector Ruiz (FY/Bronx, NY) followed with 15 kills and seven digs, while Udel Phillips (SO/Far Rockaway, NY) recorded 10 kills with a .471 hitting percentage.
Setter Ayden Mercado (FY/Brooklyn, NY) orchestrated the offense with 40 assists and added six digs.
Defensively, Williams paced the team with four blocks, while Scott Rogers (FY/Suffern, NY) and Ruiz each chipped in two service aces.
Purchase hit .345 as a team with 57 kills and 47 digs, holding Sarah Lawrence to a .136 hitting percentage.
The Blue and Orange are back on the courts on March 29th for a Skyline Conference tri-match at Old Westbury, facing Manhattanville University at noon and the College at Old Westbury at 2 p.m.
