KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's tennis team saw its season come to a close Tuesday evening with a 4-2 loss to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the Skyline Conference Semifinals.
Doubles play opened the match, with USMMA earning the point after wins at No. 2 (6-4) and No. 3 (6-1). The top doubles match went unfinished.
The Panthers responded in singles behind strong performances from Eli Palagatshev (JR/Yonkers, NY) and Suleyman Eminov (SR/Mary, Turkmenistan). Palagatshev posted a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles, while Eminov followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
The Mariners secured the match with wins at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. The No. 6 singles match was left unfinished.
With the loss, the Blue and Orange closed the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 8-5 anf finished fourth in the conference. They will return to the courts in 2026!
