Purchase Concludes 2025 Campaign vs. St. Joseph's-LI

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College baseball team had its 2025 season come to end Friday afternoon, after dropping a pair of Skyline Conference matchups to St. Joseph's University-Long Island.

With the results, the Panthers finished the year 13-24 overall and 9-11 in league games. By virtue of a tiebreaker with Old Westbury, the Blue and Orange were eliminated from playoff contention.

Game One: SJLI 5, Purchase 2 (7 inn.)

The first game saw tight action the entire way. While the guests struck first, the hosts answered in the third inning with a Liam Daly (JR/Babylon, NY) RBI-single up the middle to make it 2-1.

Two innings later, Mason Compton (SR/Carmel, NY) knocked in a run to make it 2-all, before a Panthers' error in the sixth allowed two runs to plate for the Golden Eagles.

The seventh inning then saw St. Joseph's score another run to make it 5-2, where it finished soon after.

Overall, Purchase recorded six hits, as Daly led the way with two hits and a walk.

On the mound, Myles Scarry (5th/Levittown, NY) was tagged with the loss in his final career start.

He tossed a 140 pitch, seven-inning complete game effort, as he allowed five runs (one earned) on six hits. He also fanned five.

Game Two: SJLI 12, Purchase 7

The second contest saw the bats wake up for both sides, as it was the Panthers that raced in front first.

In the bottom of the first, Frank Rega (JR/West Islip, NY) drilled a two-run single, before the guests matched the effort in the top of the second.

However, the Blue and Orange responded with a five-run second frame, as they looked well on their way to victory.

But that victory did not come, as the guests remained close, slowly but surely chipping the lead down.

Eventually, the Golden Eagles tied the game at 7-all in the sixth, before grabbing the lead for good in the eighth with four more runs.

In the end, the Panthers fell by the score of 12-7.

Overall, they finished with nine hits, as Daly again powered the effort with a team-high three hits and two runs.

Rega totaled two hits and four RBIs, while Evan Biener (FY/Hillsdale, NJ) collected two hits, two runs and an RBI in the loss.

On the mound, Christian Miesegaes (SO/Staten Island, NY) got the start, finishing with four runs allowed on 10 hits over four innings.

Brandon Reybok (JR/Lindenhurst, NY) received the loss in relief, as he gave up five runs on five hits over 3.1 innings of work.

With the season now concluded, the Panthers will turn their attention to the 2026 campaign, which starts in March.
