BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team was defeated on the road Tuesday evening, falling to Sarah Lawrence College by the score of 77-47.
With the result, the Panthers are now 6-8 overall and 5-4 in the Skyline Conference. For the Gryphons, they moved to 9-5 and 6-3, respectively.
On the night, the offense of the Blue and Orange was just not clicking as it shot 27.3 percent from the field and 6.9 percent from long range.
Despite the offensive woes, the team kept things close in the quarter, even leading at one point, 9-8. However, a second-quarter explosion for the hosts sealed the contest early as they led at the break, 43-19.
In the win, Sarah Lawrence shot 53.3 percent from the field and outrebounded Purchase, 58-27.
Individually,
Charlize Giles (SO/Yonkers, NY) finished with nine points, five steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Charlee Neb (SR/Longmont, CO) added nine points and two rebounds, while
Chloe Nieves (FY/Harlem, NY) tallied seven points and four rebounds in the effort.
Up next for the women is a return home as the squad hosts St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Janaury 15th at 7 p.m.
