PURCHASE, N.Y. - The SUNY Purchase men's soccer team closed the 2026 season in impressive fashion Wednesday, as it rallied to tie Manhattanville University, 2-2.
With the result, the Panthers finished the year 1-12-5 overall and 0-6-5 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, who won the Skyline with the tie, they concluded with records of 12-3-4 and 9-1-1, respectively.Â
On the night, the guests scored the first two goals, first in the 14th minute and again in the 51st to take a commanding lead.
However, the Blue and Orange responded with a pair of strikes of their own.
The first came in the 56th minute, when
Zion Smith (FY/Brooklyn, NY) headed in his first goal of the season off a pass from
Jacob Pence (SO/Asbury, NJ).
10 minutes later, Pence converted a penalty kick to lift the contest to an even 2-2 scoreline.
Neither team found the back of the net the rest of the way, as the Panthers closed the year with an impressive draw.
Overall, the squad finished with nine shots, including seven on goal.
In goal,
Nicholas Sheridan (SO/Ansonia, CT) earned the result as he recorded three saves in 45 second-half minutes of work.
The men's soccer team will return to the field in August 2027.
