NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team earned a pair of wins Monday evening, after besting Hunter College by the scores of 9-8 and 16-0.
With the results, the Panthers are now 8-4 overall, while the Hawks dropped to 2-13.
Game One: Purchase 9, Hunter 8 (8 inn.)
While the Blue and Orange prevailed in the end, they needed a big rally to do so, coming back from a 7-0 hole.
They scored four in the sixth inning, three in the seventh and two more in the eighth to take the contest in the end.
Overall, the squad had 10 hits as
Bryce Kane (FY/Westborough, MA) led the way with three hits, including two doubles, an RBI and a walk.
Tyler Salerno (JR/Kings Park, NY) tallied two hits, an RBI, a run and a stolen base.
On the mound,
Liv Goff (JR/Syracuse, NY) went six innings in the win, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts.
Game Two: Purchase 16, Hunter 0 (5 inn.)
The second contest of the day was a walk in the park in comparison, as the Panthers scored early and often en route to the massive win.
Overall, the guests finished with 16 runs on 17 hits, as Goff led the way with four hits, including two doubles, three RBIs and two runs.
Kane added three hits, five RBIs and two runs, while four others had multi-hit games.
On the mound, Kane earned the win in a five-inning shutout. She allowed five hits and six strikeouts.
Up next for the squad is a non-conference matchup at the University of Saint Joseph on April 3rd.
