Baseball Thwarted In Regular-Season Finale

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Purchase College baseball team closed out the regular season with a pair of losses Saturday, falling to Maritime College by the scores of 14-7 and 10-0.

With the results, the Panthers now sit at 17-20 overall and 10-10 in the Skyline Conference. For the Privateers, they moved to 21-15 and 16-4, respectively.

Game One: Maritime 14, Purchase (7 inn.)

The first game of the day started quickly for the hosts, as they raced out to a 10-0 lead after two innings.

The Blue and Orange managed to get five runs back in the top of the third, but that was as close they got the rest of the way.

Overall, the Panthers had 10 hits, as Zachary Redlund (SO/Salisbury, CT) led the way with two hits and a run.

On the hill, Christian Miesegaes (JR/Staten Island, NY) was tagged with the loss. He went one inning, allowing six runs on five hits.

Game Two: Maritime 10, Purchase 0 (8 inn.)

In the second contest, the hosts remained hot as they scored runs in five innings and finished with 12 hits.

For Purchase, it tallied four hits in the effort. On the mound, Brian Saldana (JR/Middletown, NY) went five innings. He allowed four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.

Up next for the squad is the first round of the Skyline Conference Playoffs on Wednesday, May 6th.
